File / Data Mapping
What are Mappings?
eZ Import support two different types of mappings: File & Data.
File Mappings allow the specifying of which data and the location of the data in the import file. For example, column 1 is the date, column 2 is the amount in the file, etc.
Data Mappings allow you to translate data in the import into QuickBooks equivalent names. For example, the import file contains a "Home Depot Ashburn" as the vendor. However, QuickBooks has just
Home Depot as the name. You could create a one-time data mapping that anytime the file contains "Home Depot Ashburn" in the vendor column to translate it to "Home Depot".
Do Data Mappings have to match the import file data exactly?
Yes, with the exception of Bank and Credit Card Imports. In those two cases, the Data Mapping just makes sure the file data contains the word(s) in the mappings.
